            Prayer found inside the cover of a German Catechism     

Immer wieder dein gedenken
Muss ich, Herr, und mich versenken
In dein Liebe, Leiden, Sterben
Das nur retten wollt und werben
Ach, du hast in heiszen Tagen
Schuld und Sünde still getragen
Hast geopfert Flehn und Bitten
Hast dich matt um mich geschritten.
Als des Vaters Zorneschalen
Sich in namenlesen Qualen
Über deinem Haupt ergossen
Als dein Blut so mild geflossen
Als du tresster Herr gestorben
Hast du mir das Heil erworben
Hängend in der Schächer Mitten
Hast am Kreuze mich erstritten.
O so will ich, Herr, auch geben
Dir zu eigen Herz und Leben
Stärke mich nur bis and Ende
Flehend hebe ich die Hände
Deiner Marter Flammengluten
Deine Angst und Pein und Bluten
Alles was dein Herz serschnitten
Das sei nich umsonst gelitten.

+  For always and again I think and ponder on You.
From Respect and Honor and Glory, dear Master, I must bow down and prostrate myself.
For it is in and through Your Love that You have made it a fulfillment/a truth/ for me to avoid death
And never to have any of the justified anger of the promise [the law] levied against me.
In and through all your ravenous days/the propitiation/, you carried all the guilt and sins for the world.
Your un-measurable, never-ending love implored of/to the Father makes all belong even unto me.
You took on the anger, the Judgement, the curse promised in and of the Father
You did it in the Name and Belief and Petition [and wresting of your heart] of/to the Father
On your behalf this favor is poured upon us and even unto me.
Out of your blood [in and under your blood] is this treasure flowed [bestowed] to us.
For our treasure, for the gift of our hereafter, you came to [look on] our death
You restored the treasure for us; you earned the treasure for us.
You bowed down to the lowest depths, even to death on a cross and into the depths of hell in order to show your care and propitiation for us.
And so I, dear Master, surrender and give you my heart and life and countenance, [all of me].
And to and for Your Strength and Presence [Being of One Substance With the Father].
Now and forever and to the end.
I implore You to always keep me in your Hands.
Keep the fire of the Holy Spirit and the "deep cuts in me" for
The memory of your fear and pain and shedding of blood, your Passion
Everything that has cut your heart to pieces [cutting of the heart and simultaneous cutting of the vale of tears of death and the vale of the temple].
That nothing will [would] ever be able to wrest or take me from You and from Your Hands.  +

Vater Unser, der Du bist im Himmel
Geheiliget werde Dein Name
Dein Reich komme
Dein Wille geschehe
Wie im Himmel also auch auf Erden
Unser täglich Brot gieb uns heute
Und vergieb uns unsere Schuld
Als wir vergeben unsern Schuldigern.
Und führe uns nicht in Versuchung;
Sondern erlöse uns von dem Übel.
Denn dein ist das Reich und die Kraft
und die Herrlichkeit in Ewigkeit.  Amen.  

 

Das Apostalische Glaubensbekenntnis / The Apostles Creed
     Ich glaube an Gott den Vater allmächtigen, Schöpfer Himmels und der Erden.
     Und an Jesum Christum, Seinen einigen Sohn, unsern Herrn; der enpfangen ist von dent Heiligen Geist, geboren von der Jungfrau Maria; gelitten unter Pontio Pilato, gefreuzigt, gestorben und begraben; niedergefahren zur Höllen am dritten Tage wieder auserstanden von den Toten; aufgefahren gen Himmel, sitzend zur Rechten Gottes, des allmächtigen Vaters; von dannen Er kommen wird, zu richten die Lebendigen und die Toten.
     Ich glaube an den Heiligen Geist, eine heilige christliche Kirche, die Gemeine der Heiligen; Vergebung der Sünden; Auferstehung des Fleisches, und ein ewiges Leben.       Amen.
